KDKA radio in Pittsburgh has been fined $6,000 for a 2007 prank that fell flat. A disc jockey said he had a cool million waiting for the lucky 13th caller, but the station never paid off – claiming the entire affair was an obvious joke, even after leaving the excited caller on hold for 45 minutes.
But the Federal Communications Commission didn’t think it was so funny, and recently came down with the fine.

An Omaha motorcyclist found out the pleasant way that it was all about the Benjamins.
Anthony Burres left a trail of $2,500 – in $100 bills – blowing in the wind after his stash fell with his wallet.
Someone tracked Burres for several blocks and directed him back to the scene – where he found other drivers waiting for him with the dough they had rounded up.

A US swimmer has become the first woman to churn across the Atlantic Ocean, arriving in Trinidad 24 days after leaving Cape Verde Islands off Africa.
Jennifer Figge, 56, of Aspen, Colo., was 1,000 miles off course, but kept at it for eight hours a day.
A Frenchman made the 4,000-mile swim in 1999.

The largest statue in England – a 164-foot-high white horse – will be erected in Kent.
The $3.5 million sculpture will be more than twice the height of a 1998 statue, “Angel of the North,” in Gateshead.
