President Obama, who famously filled out his NCAA brackets on ESPN, refused to wish British PM Gordon Brown luck in England’s upcoming World Cup qualifier match against Ukraine.

Pointing out that his NCAA picks had “stirred up all kinds of controversy,” Obama added, “The last thing I’m going to do is wade into European football. That would be a mistake. I didn’t get a briefing on that, but I sense that would be a mistake.”

The high-powered visitors to Buckingham Palace took an after-dinner photo with Queen Elizabeth that was a little like class picture day in high school.

When officials said they planned to shoot the image four times to get it right, one dignitary replied, “And smile,” prompting Her Majesty to chime in, “It has to be a happy photo.”

Obama and PM Brown got down to serious business when they talked about . . . the commander-in-chief’s well-known exercise obsession.

“I’ve benefited from Barack’s advice, not just about elections, but about fitness,” Brown told reporters at a joint press conference.

“We’ve been talking about not the treadmill of politics, but the treadmill that we’re both on everyday — the running machine . . . We’ve been exchanging ideas.”
