Birds have always tweeted, but now they’re also doing it in 140 characters or less.

Bill Oddie, an expert on avian language, is translating birds’ tweets at the London Zoo and sending them out over Twitter.

“Every bird has a bit of a vocabulary,’’ he said.

One, he deduced, wanted to hook up with a female.

So Oddie tweeted, “That Red Billed Toucan was calling for a girlfriend. Sounds to me like he’s shouting for some company.’’

Speaking of talented birds, a San Francisco seagull has shot a video that would make a pro proud.

French tourist Nathalie Rollandin was filming a spectacular sunset when the bird swooped down and stole her camera.

It took off at just the right angle to get a perfect shot.

Then it landed and dropped the camera.

It’s a “San Francisco sunset I will hardly forget,’’ Rollandin said.

An Ohio woman has built what she says is the world’s biggest yo-yo: It’s 15 feet wide and weighs 7,300 pounds.

The Marines are testing a four-legged robot that looks like a pooch and can carry 400 pounds for 20 miles.

“We want a radio operator to be able to tell it to ‘sit,’ ‘stay,’ ” said Lt. Joe Hitt of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. “Likewise, the robot could tell them, ‘I’m stuck.’ ’’
