A man who hailed a yellow cab with friends outside a Chelsea hot spot early Thursday became so angry with the driver that he got out, climbed on the hood, smashed a window — and carjacked the vehicle, authorities said.

Driver Yousef Amar, 39, of The Bronx, picked up the group at 3 a.m. outside 1 Oak. When he made a first stop to drop a woman off on West 28th Street, one passenger asked to sit up front.

When Amar refused, the passenger allegedly went berserk, and climbed on the front of the vehicle.

Amar said he got out of the cab and “talked him off the hood.”

The loon then shattered a passenger window, climbed into the cab and sped off — while his friends screamed at him to stop.

“I ran behind him for two blocks,” said Amar, who called 911 first. “I was in deep shock. It was like a movie for me. I was totally panicked. You cannot imagine. I was shaking.”

The police recovered the Ford Taurus sedan, unoccupied, on West 23rd Street and Eighth Avenue.
