A French winemaker has lost between 15 to 20 percent of his harvest thanks to an extreme “attack of mildew,” he says.

“This is the first time I see such an attack,” Joel Tauzin told Reuters Tuesday.

His Merlet vineyard in Domaine de Merlet, Léognan, near Bordeaux, has been turned into a shriveled up wasteland — with the cabernet being the hardest hit.

According to Vaaju.com, the Interprofessional Council of Bordeaux Wine estimates that almost all of the 6000 vineyards in Bordeaux are being affected in varying degrees by the mildew attack.
