Eau no!
TikToker Emelia O’Toole, also known as “Professor Perfume,” is going viral for noting how perfume lovers are storing their bottles all wrong.
She starts the minute-long video — which has amassed more than 2.3 million views since it was posted this week — turning her nose up at Pinterest photos showing fragrances on bathroom countertops.
“If you keep your perfume in the bathroom, when you shower, all of the steam, all of the constant temperature fluctuations are going to spoil your perfume a lot faster than if you store them correctly,” O’Toole said.
The eau-it-all also advised against placing perfume bottles in popular places such as dressers and windowsills.

O’Toole answered common scents questions in the comments of her TikTok video. professorperfume/TikTok“Store your fragrance in a cool, dry, dark place. I always recommend your closet or a dresser drawer. Some people keep them in the fridge. You don’t have to go that far, but when you store them correctly they will last you for years and years,” she continued.
“Say it with me: Hide them away to make them stay,” O’Toole wrote on text placed atop the video.
TikTok users offered their two scents in the comments.
“Then they shouldn’t make the bottles so pretty,” one user sniffed.
“I learned this the hard way putting them on my windowsill,” another admitted.
“…the walk of shame I just did to my bathroom. Into the hall closet they go,” another said.
“What about ….a dark drawer in the bathroom,” one hopeful asked.
“If it’s in the bathroom it’s susceptible to temp fluctuations! it should be in another room altogether,” O’Toole responded.
“I know you’re right but I value my laziness when getting ready higher than how long my perfume lasts,” another snorted.
