The headline-making sex change of Caitlyn Jenner and the legalization of same-sex marriage have helped give rise to a small publicly traded media company serving the LGBT community.

Multimedia Platforms, which had been focused on the New York and Florida markets, said it purchased New Frontiers Media Holdings, the publisher of Frontiers magazine in California. New Frontiers also is the producer of “The Horizon,” a Web series.

Terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition gives Multimedia Platforms a more expansive network that includes two Florida weeklies — Florida Agenda and Guy magazine — the LGBT travel guide, Fun Maps, and New York-based Next magazine, which were purchased earlier this year.

“It’s been fragmented, now we are giving advertisers a unified marketplace,” said Chief Executive Bobby Blair.

Multimedia Platforms posted an operating loss of $924,000 in the second quarter on revenue of $223,000.
