Caitlyn Jenner slammed liberal California Democrats for tarnishing the Golden State by having their “priorities in the wrong spot” and failing to get ahead of key issues before they spin out of control.
The longtime Californian, who attempted to replace Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom in a 2021 recall election, said the wildfires would “shine a very bright light” on the state’s political weaknesses.
“Boy, have I seen this state decline over the years. We’re not gold, we’re not silver, we’re not bronze. We don’t even make the finals anymore and that’s all because of politicians. What I think the fire is going to do is show California’s political weaknesses. It’s going to shine a very bright light on it,” she told Fox News’s “The Story.”
Jenner has lived in California since 1973. Fox News“We have so many issues here, mostly with the politicians,” Jenner added before comparing local politicians’ responses to issues to a game of whack-a-mole.
“You know that game when you play, when you have the mole and you have the board in front of you and the head pops up, you got a hammer, and you bang it down? And then another one comes up over here, and you bang it down,” she said.
“That’s what they do. Soon as the problem comes up, then they try to do what they can do to fix it. Instead of being on the offensive a year before the fires,” Jenner explained.
Jenner criticized Gov. Gavin Newsom’s response to the wildfires. APThe former Olympian then blasted Newsom’s lackluster response to the wildfires, claiming she has had multiple properties affected by fires over the years and that they happen “all the time.”
“This is devastating stuff, and they’re not on the offense,” she said.
Jenner made note of California’s outdated water reserves system that failed to store all the water from last year’s record rainfall — and said liberal leaders hadn’t prioritized necessary innovations in the state in decades.

The greatest project in history [for] water in California. Since then, we’ve been run by liberal Democrats and we just get less and less. And it’s just, it’s a shame because there are a lot of things you can do, and they just have their priorities in the wrong spot,” she said.
Jenner then detailed how she hopes the current wildfires prompt Californians to stop voting for liberal politicians in future elections.
“I hope the people of California can really change their thinking. And I think what’s happening [with] this fire is going to change their thinking. It’s things like this that have to happen,” Jenner said.
Jenner noted the whole state is controlled by Democrats, telling viewers, “They control the money. They control the votes. They control the unions. And to me, the whole state is like a big scam.”
