Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie will join ABC News as an on-air contributor heading into the midterm elections, sources said on Monday.

The former Trump campaign aide will take part in ABC’s coverage of Tuesday night’s State of the Union speech by President Trump, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Christie will make his debut appearance earlier Tuesday on “Good Morning America,” the source said.

Christie joins the network’s other conservative commentators Meghan McCain and Alex Castellanos.

His ties to Trump make him a valuable asset in articulating how Trump supporters view the current presidency.

Christie — once the head of Trump’s transition team — said he was fired from the transition for raising concerns about General Mike Flynn among other reasons.

A spokesperson for ABC News did not return request for comment.
