A White House reporter for CNN was forced to issue a public apology on Sunday night after some of her old tweets, containing gay slurs, resurfaced.

“When I was in college, I used ignorant language in a few tweets to my friends,” wrote Kaitlan Collins on Twitter. “It was immature but it doesn’t represent the way I feel at all. I regret it and apologize.”

The tweets in question were posted by Collins in 2011. She joined CNN in June 2017.

“Idk if I wanna room with a lesbian,” the reporter said in one post. She used the word “fag” in another.

One of Collins’ co-workers told the Washington Examiner that they were “personally offended” by the tweets. No other colleagues have commented.
