CNN anchor Jake Tapper claimed he has been covering President Trump’s health “all the time” to make up for his lack of coverage of former President Joe Biden’s mental decline.
During an episode of “Pod Save America” on Monday, former Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor questioned whether Tapper has been covering Trump appearing to fall asleep during cabinet meetings and other signs of the current president’s age.
“We cover it all the time on my show, all the time,” said Tapper, host of “The Lead with Jake Tapper.”

“I think it is a legitimate question for any president of any age, but particularly anybody who is in, like, the range of being an octogenarian, right?”
Most recently, Tapper added, he covered Trump’s “crazy Truth Social rant” after the New York Times published a report that the president was showing signs of fatigue — which Trump called “seditious, perhaps even treasonous.”
The CNN host has faced heated backlash for trying to cash in on Biden’s demise with his bombshell book about the alleged cover-up — after staunchly defending Biden’s cognitive abilities while the former president was still in office.
Tapper even apologized to first daughter-in-law Lara Trump earlier this year after he berated her on air during the 2020 presidential campaign — denying her claims that Biden was suffering a cognitive decline and accusing her of mocking the former president’s stutter.

Tapper said he covered Trump’s “crazy Truth Social rant” after the New York Times published a report that the president was showing signs of fatigue. APDuring Monday’s episode, Tapper also defended his coverage of Biden’s decline in his book, co-authored by Axios reporter Alex Thompson, “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.”
“I don’t know anybody who thinks that he [Biden] could be president right now and all the way through 2029,” Tapper said.
“In his current state, if you see him speak, if you see him walking, I feel bad for him.”
