Bill Werde, a former editorial director of Billboard, is going back to school. He’s been tapped to be the director of the Bandier Program for Music Business and Entertainment at Syracuse University, a part of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Werde left Billboard in 2014 and more recently served as CEO of social change agency Fenton.
“I’ve known Bill personally for a number of years and he has a knowledge and understanding of the music industry that is second to none,” said Martin Bandier, the chairman of Sony/ATV Music Publishing, an alumnus whose endowment made the program possible.
“I cannot think of a better person to succeed the program’s excellent first director, David Rezak,” Bandier said.
