Fox is getting a C-suite shuffle as Lachlan Murdoch prepares to take the helm of the broadcasting giant.
The New York-based company, which owns TV and cable channels including Fox News, said Tuesday it is promoting Eric Shanks to CEO of Fox Sports from president, chief operating officer and executive producer of the division.
Mike Biard, meanwhile, is being promoted to president of operations and distribution for Fox. Paul Cheesbrough will become Fox’s chief technology officer and head of direct to consumer platforms for the company, after serving as 21st Century Fox chief technology officer.
The shakeup comes after Disney’s $71.3 billion acquisition of 21st Century Fox’s film and television assets. All execs will report to Murdoch, who will serve as chairman and CEO of Fox once the Disney deal closes in 2019.
Disney has yet to disclose new post-acquisition executive structure.
“We are fortunate to be able to continue working with these enormously talented executives who have helped make our businesses the incredible successes they are today,” Murdoch said. “Collectively they bring to Fox the vision, entrepreneurial spirit and proven track records to position Fox to seize future opportunities for its leading and deeply resonant brands across sports, news and entertainment.”
Marianne Gambelli, president of ad sales for Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, has been elevated to president of ad sales of Fox. Steve Tomsic, 21st Century Fox’s executive vice president of finance and deputy chief financial officer, will become Fox’s chief financial officer.
As previously announced, John Nallen will be appointed chief operating officer of Fox, Suzanne Scott will continue to serve as CEO of Fox News and Fox Business Network, and Jack Abernethy will remain CEO of Fox Television Stations.
In addition, Viet Dinh was recently named chief legal and policy officer of Fox.
Fox shares a common owner with News Corp., which publishes The Post.
