Jimmy Kimmel went on the attack against first lady Melania Trump, suggesting ticket sales to her documentary were “rigged” by suspicious bulk purchases.
“A lot of people, myself included, have been wondering how this movie managed to sell $7 million worth of tickets last weekend when almost every theater seemed to be empty leading up to the release,” Kimmel said during his monologue on Wednesday night.
Jimmy Kimmel blasted first lady Melania Trump over her documentary, claiming the ticket sales were “rigged” by bulk purchases. FOX News“Sources say there were signs that blocks of tickets to ‘Melania’ were purchased and then distributed to Republican activists and senior citizens’ homes, which are really the same thing,” he noted.
“If you don’t believe this is the kind of thing they would do, you may be forgetting that back in 2019, the Republican National Committee bought $100,000 worth of Don Jr.’s book to put in swag bags to make it a New York Times best-seller.”
“Melania” surpassed box office expectations, raking in $7 million at the box office in its opening weekend. Kimmel is a longtime critic of the Trump administration.

He even encouraged a federal investigation, suggesting the president send in his Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
“We need to get to the bottom of this. Send in Tulsi Gabbard and the FBI! Seize the ticket machines, the popcorn buckets, the box office receipts, at every multiplex in America!” he said.
During his Wednesday show, Kimmel made fun of people who did go see the first lady’s film, pointing to a photo of a group of women who dressed up in white-and-black dresses similar to Melania’s inaugural gown for their trip to see the documentary.
“To be fair, some people actually did go see the movie, including this group who call themselves the Church Ladies,” Kimmel said, showing the picture. “The rest of us call them the Dumb-as-the-Rockettes. They look like they dressed up as a group of redacted documents from the Epstein files. It’s all very sus, as the kids like to say.”

WireImageKimmel was critical of “Melania” before the documentary even opened, calling it a “$75 million bribe” that “Amazon made for her.” He was referring to the $40 million Amazon MGM Studios paid for the film rights and its $35 million marketing campaign.
ABC took Kimmel off the air for five days in September after the comedian made the false claim Charlie Kirk was killed by other Trump supporters — despite authorities saying the alleged shooter had left-wing views.
Trump, at the time, had strong words for the host, saying he was taken off air due to “bad ratings.”
“Jimmy Kimmel was fired because he had bad ratings, more than anyone else, and he said a horrible thing about a great gentleman known as Charlie Kirk,” Trump said.
Kimmel was in tears when he was finally allowed back on the airwaves, although he refused to directly apologize for his Kirk comments.
“You understand that it was never my intention to make light of a murder of a young man. I don’t think there’s anything funny about it,” he said in his monologue.
Kimmel negotiated his return with Disney’s head honcho, Bob Iger, and Disney Entertainment co-chair Dana Walden, sources told The Post — though it was unclear upon what conditions, if any, the two sides agreed.
Trump has previously sued ABC. In December 2024, shortly after he won the presidential election, ABC News and its star anchor, George Stephanopoulos, agreed to pay him $16 million to settle a defamation lawsuit.
He sued after Stephanopoulos incorrectly said multiple times Trump was “found liable for rape” during a “This Week” interview.
In May 2023, a Manhattan jury ordered Trump to pay $5 million to the former advice columnist E. Jean Carroll after finding him liable for sexually abusing her at a department store in 1996 and later defaming her in his statements where he denied her allegations.
