Meredith is hoping the third time’s the charm.

The publisher of Family Circle, Better Homes and Gardens and other monthly titles, is in talks to buy Time Inc., according to a report late Wednesday.

The deal would be backed by the billionaire investing brothers, Charles G. and David H. Koch, the report said.

The two companies have discussed a combination twice before — the last time earlier this year.

The entry of the Koch brothers, known to support conservative causes, was a surprise, according to the New York Times, which reported on the latest round of talks.

The Koch brothers are ready to inject $500 million cash into Meredith, the Times reported, citing people with knowledge of the talks.

Time Inc. also declined to comment. Meredith did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
