Phebe Wahl, the beauty editor of Modern Luxury, is going to be the new editor-in-chief of Manhattan and Beach magazines following a purge of five-year EIC Cristina Cuomo.

Cuomo was the launch editor of Beach. Her sister, publisher Andrea Greeven, is also gone in the purge — along with most of the small staff.

Wahl, an out-of-towner from Atlanta, is a pal of the company’s new editorial director, Stephanie Davis Smith.

Wahl had been running the Atlantan, but that job will now be filled by Lauren Finney, who had been at Lonely Planet.
