Leon Cooperman, head of Omega Advisors, which until recently was the fifth-largest shareholder in Time Inc., has sold his entire stake in the publisher — snagging an estimated $92 million ahead of Meredith’s takeover of the publisher of Time, People, Sports Illustrated, In Style and other titles.
Surprisingly, he sold at $18.55 a share, a premium over the $18.50 a share that Meredith is offering as part of its $2.8 billion takeover — now expected to close within 30 days.
Cooperman was reported to hold 4,960,004 shares valued at $54 million at Sept. 30.
He investor declined to confirm his average purchase price but told Media Ink, “I did fine.”
