Sports Illustrated’s top writer Peter King toyed with the idea of jumping to NBC but ultimately decided to renew with the Time Inc. weekly, where he is editor-in-chief of the Monday Morning Quarterback website.

“They’ve been better to me than I’ve been for them,” said King. He added that he decided to stay after Time Inc. committed to more video for the site.

“We have a staff of about 10 and they’re committed to adding two or three more,” he said.

King is paid a reported $1.2 million a year under the expiring three-year deal. He declined to comment on terms of the new deal. King hopes to continue his NFL postgame show for NBC, where he has resided for 10 years.
