“The Dr. Oz Show” is coming to an end next month as its host Dr. Mehmet Oz prepares to run for a US Senate seat in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Oz announced his run for retiring US Senator Pat Toomey’s seat in late November. Shortly thereafter, the Fox Station Group said it was yanking the show from New York and Pennsylvania.
The show, which is currently in its 13th season, will officially end on Jan. 14, series distributor Sony Pictures Television said Monday.
During its time on the air, “The Dr. Oz Show” won 10 Daytime Emmy Awards.
It will be replaced by “The Good Dish,” a new one-hour syndicated cooking and talk show hosted by Oz’s daughter and “Master Chef Junior” judge Daphne Oz, food writer Gail Simmons and Food Network chef Jamika Pessao.
“Audiences have been loving what Daphne, Gail and Jamika have been serving up during their weekly segments on ‘The Dr. Oz Show’ for years,” said Zack Hernandez, senior vice president and general sales manager of US Syndication Sales for Sony Pictures Television.
