Terrell Owens has gone from pigskin profits to humble pie.
The former NFL star, who was as well known for his off-the-field antics, will appear in a 30-second spot for first-time Super Bowl advertiser Wix.
In a teaser for the ad, Owens pumps iron and kisses his muscles in preparation for his post-NFL career as a pie-maker. The spot teams Owens with celeb chef Matt Matheson as they embark on their Humble Pie business.
The actual spot will air in the fourth quarter of the Feb. 1 telecast on NBC.
Wix’s #ItsThatEasy Super Bowl campaign will show other players, including Brett Favre, Emmitt Smith, Larry Allen and Franco Harris, making the transition to small business owner.
The goal for Israel-based Wix is to show how easy it is for mom-and-pop businesses to use its online platform to build and maintain their own e-commerce sites.
The price tag for a single 30-second Super Bowl ad is $4.5 million, although repeat advertisers and those that buy multiple spots pay less than the list price.
At least a dozen new advertisers are gearing up Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale, Ariz., including Loctite glue and Mophie, the phone-battery device. Returning advertisers include Doritos and Mercedes-Benz.
