The Daily News turned into a cruel “Star Wars” spoiler thanks to its Wednesday comics page — two days before the Disney blockbuster’s opening.

The “Between the Lines” cartoon by Max Garcia showed a lifelike drawing of one of the film franchise’s main characters and listed a life span — signaling to fans that the character died in the film.

“That’s awful,” said one movie critic who had seen a preview and knew instantly that the cartoon was, without a doubt, giving away a big plot twist.

Perhaps the blunder was the result of the massive layoffs undertaken earlier this year by the teetering tabloid — which decimated its features department in the flurry of September pink slips.

Calls to Editor-in-Chief Jim Rich and a spokeswoman were not returned by presstime.
