Michael Avenatti and Anthony Scaramucci appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Wednesday night, giving a sneak peak at what could be their new debate show.

“Obviously my first question is, ‘What is this?’ And my follow-up is, ‘Why is this?’ Why are the two of you a team now?” Colbert asked the men, each in a dark suit.

“Are we a team?” asked Avenatti, lawyer for porn star and alleged President Trump paramour Stormy Daniels.

“I didn’t know we were a team,” replied Scaramucci, the short-time White House communications director.

The two later said they met through mutual friends — not Daniels or Trump — and decided to try their hand at debate and talk show.

“Let me say two things. I don’t have a lot of rules in my life. But one of the rules is I never do a show with a guy whose first name is ‘The,’ ” Avenatti said to his debate partner, known as “The Mooch.”

Scaramucci played along: “See, I actually thought we were doing a show, and it was going to be the male version of ‘Thelma and Louise.’ ”

That gave Colbert an opening to jump in: “Well, this administration is certainly driving the country off a cliff right now.”

They went on to debate the presidential power of pardon, the recent North Korean summit in Singapore and the future of Trump lawyer Michael Cohen.
