Tom Beusse was tapped by Tinicum Partners to become the new CEO of F+W, which publishes Writer’s Digest, Digital Book World and a range of hobby titles including Popular Woodworking.

“F+W has always been active in M&A, and that should not change,” he said, “but it has to become decidedly more digital.”

Tinicum, which bought F+W in 2014, is backed by the wealthy but low-profile Ruttenberg family and a number of executives formerly with Goldman Sachs’ merchant banking department. He was most recently heading the Sports Media Group of Gannett’s USA Today and had served earlier stints as CEO of syndicated radio network Westwood One and earlier as president of Rodale’s magazine division and Time 4 Media when it was owned by Time Inc.

F+W is headquartered in New York, although the bulk of its 800 employees are split between offices in Cincinnati and Fort Collins, Colo. It’s estimated to have revenue of around $200 million.
