The Mets announced today that they will honor the 40th anniversary of their famed 1969 championship team on Aug. 22 before a 7:10 p.m. home game against the rival Phillies. Several members of the club that upset the Orioles in the World Series, including Tom Seaver, will return for an on-field ceremony, and the first 25,000 fans will receive a commemorative item sponsored by Citigroup.
