TAMPA — Monday night it was Mark Teixeira getting hit by a pitch in the right elbow and sending pulse rates throughout the Yankees’ universe to the moon.
Today it was the sight of Alex Rodriguez going to the ground after fouling a ball off his left foot in the second inning against the Twins at George Steinbrenner Field.
Teixeira left the game and hasn’t played since, although the first baseman and No. 3 hitter said he will attempt to play tomorrow.
Rodriguez remained in today’s game and didn’t seem affected in the fourth inning when he hit an opposite-field homer to right off the end of the bat..
