Apparently Yankees manager Joe Girardi was waiting for a high-pressure spot to put Alex Rodriguez into Wednesday night’s game against the rival Red Sox at Fenway Park.

A-Rod, whose last game as a Yankee is on Friday, was called on to pinch hit in the seventh inning with the Bombers trailing 4-2 with runners on first and second and no outs.

Rodriguez flew out to right field on a fairly long fly ball, moving the lead runner, Gary Sanchez, to third base.
