MIAMI — Alex Rodriguez spent a second straight day working with Miguel Andujar at third base during early workouts before the Yankees’ 9-3 loss to the Marlins Wednesday night. It’s something that started a few years ago in Instructional League according to infield coach Carlos Mendoza.

“It’s definitely great,’’ Mendoza said about having Rodriguez work with the young third baseman. “To see a guy like that you have to listen to him.’’

The right shoulder tenderness David Robertson experienced playing catch Tuesday night was gone when he repeated the exercise before Wednesday’s game, but Aaron Boone said there were no plans to use Robertson after Wednesday night’s loss.

Robertson hasn’t pitched since Aug. 17.

In order to have somebody to provide length in the bullpen the Yankees elevated right-hander Chance Adams from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Aroldis Chapman’s roster spot, and he gave up four runs in 1 ²/₃ innings Wednesday night. That likely means that Sonny Gray will pitch one of the two games in Baltimore on Saturday.

Gray hasn’t started a game since Aug. 1 and has made four relief appearances since then.
