Some notes from today’s pregame:

Joe Girardi hopes to have Alex Rodriguez back in the lineup Tuesday against the Phillies. It may just be as a designated hitter, though.

“My hope is we’ll have him on Tuesday,” Girardi said. “I can’t tell you exactly what that would be if it’s a DH or possibly a full-fledged player. We’ll see what his availability is today after all his treatments.”

Jorge Posada returned to catching today for the first time since May 16 when he broke a bone in his right foot.

Nick Swisher is the designated hitter.

Alfredo Aceves threw in right field today before the game with pitching coach Mike Harkey. Aceves, who is on the DL with a bulging disk in his back, threw for about eight minutes at about 60-65 percent. The Yankees are working on Aceves altering his follow-through to put less strain on his back.

“I told Harkey it doesn’t hurt but it feels weird,” Aceves said of his new motion.
