Alex Rodriguez and Jesus Montero are not in the Yankees starting lineup for Tuesday night’s game against the Orioles at the Stadium.
Rodriguez had played the previous three games after returning from a sprained thumb. No reason was immediately given for Rodriguez’s absence.
Montero, who hit is first two major-league home runs in Monday’s 11-10 win, is being given the night off against Orioles right-hander Tommy Hunter.
Eric Chavez starts at third base in place of rodriguez; Jorge Posada is the DH.
The Yankees on Tuesday promoted right-handed pitchers Hector Noesi, George Kontos and Andrew Brackman and outfielder Greg Golson from Triple-A.
Noesi, Brackman and Golson were recalled from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Kontos had his contract selected from the International League team.
Noesi is 2-0 with a 3.42 ERA in 24 games for the Yankees this season. Golson appeared in the first round of the playoffs and the ALCS last year.
