TORONTO — Alex Rodriguez was well aware the Yankees were 12-0 in games he didn’t play in this year before his mates met the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.

“My only concern is that [Brian] Cashman and Joe [Girardi don’t] bring me into the office and convert it to 60 days,” Rodriguez said about his 15-day stint on the disabled list that began Saturday.

Rodriguez was placed on the DL one day after he re-injured the left calf that was originally hurt a week ago.

Rodriguez has been told to stay off his feet and doesn’t know when he will be cleared to do anything more than walk.

“Anything north of walking I feel it,” Rodriguez said.

Eligible to come off the shelf Sept. 5, Rodriguez looks at the time away in a positive light.

“In September and October we will look back and think this is a blessing in disguise,” Rodriguez said.

Despite Robinson Cano’s hot bat hitting in Rodriguez’s cleanup spot, Joe Girardi said when Rodriguez returns he will hit fourth.

“He is a cleanup hitter, look at his production,” Girardi said. “Before he got hurt he was leading the major leagues in RBIs.”
