BOSTON — In the midst of a disastrous opener to their series against the Red Sox, the Yankees may have gotten a glimmer of hope that Aaron Judge is able to hit Sale — and hit at Fenway Park.
Judge was 0-for-12 with 10 strikeouts before his first-inning single to left off Sale and after another hit in the third, he later blasted a homer to center that went an estimated 444 feet for the Yankees’ lone run against the lefty.
In nine career games at Fenway before Tuesday, Judge was 3-for-36 with one homer, six walks and 14 strikeouts. His OPS of .399 was by far Judge’s worst at any ballpark.
“It felt good to get the first hit,” Judge said after the Yankees’ 14-1 loss. “I felt like I was 0-for-15 with 12 [strikeouts].
