SAN DIEGO — Adam Jones is seriously weighing a multi-year offer from the Orix Buffaloes in Japan — a contract that could be finalized as early as Tuesday.
Jones was frustrated that he had to wait around all last offseason before finally settling on a one-year, $3 million pact with the Diamondbacks. He was outspoken about how many veteran players have had their salaries severely curtailed in a more analytic age.
This move — if finalized — would more strongly suggest a different avenue for veterans of stature who have had their financial markets curtailed in MLB.
