Caden Philip, the adorable kid who won SNY’s Kidcaster contest, was doing an incredible job during the third inning of Thursday’s Mets game, and in the middle of his play-by-play he charmingly dropped a truth bomb.

When Gary Cohen mentioned that Philip, a pitcher, had as many no-hitters as the Mets, Philip made his thoughts known about Johan Santana’s 2012 no-hitter.

“That wasn’t really a no-hitter. That was a fair ball,” the quick-witted Philip said.

Philip, of course, is referring to the ball hit by then-Cardinal Carlos Beltran in the top of the sixth inning that hit the chalk past third base but was ruled a foul ball. Had the ball been ruled fair, the Mets might still be looking for the first no-hitter in franchise history.

Here’s to seeing more of Philip in the booth sometime soon.
