The return of Moises Alou highlights the lineups for tonightâs showdown here with the NL-leading Diamondbacks, who send 4-1 Micah Owings to the mound against the Metsâ John Maine. Alou has not played in a major-league game since March 6 due to hernia surgery, and Willie Randolph indicated the 41-year-old might not play the entire game tonight. So donât be surprised if Endy Chavez or Angel Pagan are late-inning replacements.
Randolph also has gone back to Ryan Church in the No. 2 spot in place of Luis Castillo after the Mets went 5-0 with Church in the second hole last month.
For the 14-12 Mets, who are 11-1 here at Chase Field the past three seasons:
Jose Reyes SS
Ryan Church RF
David Wright 3B
Carlos Beltran CF
Moises Alou LF
Carlos Delgado 1B
Raul Casanova C
Luis Castillo 2B
John Maine RHP (2-2, 3.58)
The Diamondbacks, meanwhile, are simply on fire. Their 20-8 record is by far the best in the majors, and the three pitchers they will throw at the Mets this weekend â Owings, Brandon Webb and Dan Haren — are a combined 14-1. They go with:
Chris Young CF
Eric Byrnes LF
Orlando Hudson 2B
Conor Jackson 1B
Mark Reynolds 3B
Stephen Drew SS
Justin Upton RF
Miguel Montero C
Micah Owings RHP (4-0, 3.48)
