The Mets are getting recharged and refreshed for a critical second half of the season ahead.

Juan Soto to the Mets? Can it actually happen? Soto was a major story during All-Star week in Los Angeles. What moves will the Mets make to bolster the roster? Will this team hold on to win the NL East? With 69 games and a 2.5-game lead, this is going to be a Hollywood script itself.

To talk about all of it as we look ahead to the second half, we bring you a new episode of the “Amazin’ But True” podcast with Nelson Figueroa and me. I hosted the show from LA and got a few short interviews with Mets All-Stars Edwin Diaz, Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso.

‘Amazin’ But True’ Opening Segment with Jake & Figgie:

  • JAKE IN LA: What an incredible experience from Los Angeles with all the MLB All-Star festivities. Had a priceless experience getting to watch the Home Run Derby from the Mastercard Home Run seats in left-center field. It was almost a mosh pit for home run balls. I had a few come awfully close to my glove, but could not snag one. There was no better way to take in the HR Derby than from those seats. The All-Star Game itself was cool, seeing fans of all different teams, although it was awfully hot at Dodger Stadium. The parties were tremendous. The weather was beautiful. Highly recommend experiencing all the All-Star events.
  • METS ALL-STARS: Jeff McNeil got hit by a pitch, which made sense with the Mets being hit by more pitches than anyone in baseball. Pete Alonso walked. Edwin Diaz didn’t end up coming into the All-Star Game. Starling Marte was previously replaced on the roster.
  • JUAN SOTO TRADE RUMORS: Should the Mets make a trade for Soto? What package would get it done? Do you trade McNeil in a package? Do you give up Francisco Alvarez? Is it worth trading the whole farm to get him?
  • SECOND HALF PREVIEW: This team needs to go out and get a bat and an elite reliever. Josh Bell? Nelson Cruz? They come out of the break with some tough games against the Padres and Yankees. Lot of games against the Braves, which could play big factor in determining who wins the NL East.

Edwin Diaz Interview Mets closer

  • EDWIN DIAZ SPANISH ACADEMY: Diaz teaches me how to say “All-Star pitcher,” “Hollywood swinging,” “nice car,” “best manager” and “second half.”
  • PLAYING FOR BUCK SHOWALTER: Blessed to play for him. He’s really nice.
  • TRUMPETS: The fans love his entrance music and it makes him feel good.
  • MARTE: He’s been incredible. He can get a strikeout and walk to dugout relaxed, knowing he can get hit next time up.

Jeff McNeil Interview Mets second baseman

  • BABY AND LA: Pretty exciting week welcoming first son Lucas and starting in the All-Star Game. Glad his first baseball game is All-Star Game.
  • METS IN LA: Would be cool to be in LA for NLCS. Hopefully we are in there.
  • BUCK: He’s awesome. He understands his players well and gets to know them. He’s pretty funny. He’s got a little bit of everything. That was one of the best things for this team.

Pete Alonso Interview Mets first baseman

  • POWER BOD RECOVERY: Hydration, getting some good nutrients and good food in. Going to rest the next few days to recover.
  • SHOWALTER: He’s been instrumental for us. He’s been a huge addition to the staff. He’s been a true leader.
