N.Y. Post: Charles Wenzelberg

Water is wet. A bear poops in the woods. Jacob deGrom gets no run support.

It’s a tale as old as time. If deGrom were to pitch for almost any other team, he’s a guaranteed 20-plus game winner every year. With the Mets, he has two losses already in games where he only gave up one run. The Mets offense has been the worst in baseball. Their pitching just cannot carry them all year if the bats don’t wake up. Something has got to give.

To talk about the lineup’s putrid hitting, the two losses to the Red Sox and look ahead to 10 straight games finally without an off day, we bring you a new episode of the “Amazin’ But True” podcast with Nelson Figueroa and me, featuring a chat with The Post’s Mike Puma.

Amazin’ But True Podcast with Jake & Figgie:

  • METS LOSE TWO TO RED SOX/NO RUN SUPPORT: Jacob deGrom pitches another gem and doesn’t get a single run of support. Mets offense is in a bad funk to start the season. They are last in the league in runs.
  • FRANCISCO LINDOR BOOS: Too early for fans to be booing Lindor. Needs to be given more time and a more normal schedule. His strong defense has been his saving grace. Figgie talks about getting booed or getting hate tweets when at SNY and discusses his experience pitching in Philadelphia for the Phillies.

  • DEGROM/BATS: How does deGrom keep going out there and dominating and then blaming himself when the bats can’t give him any runs?
  • HOT SEAT: Are Luis Rojas or Chili Davis on the hot seat yet?
