If anyone thought the Subway Series was dying off, they were very wrong. This weekend at Citi Field proved why the Mets-Yankees rivalry is alive and well. From Saturday’s emotional 9/11 tribute in front of over 43,000 fans to whistling from the dugouts to benches clearing to a three-homer night, the rivalry was nothing short of thrilling and enthralling.
To talk about the memorable series, ending with Sunday night’s insanity, we bring you an “Amazin’ But True” meets “Pinstripe Pod” crossover show with former Met Nelson Figueroa, former Yankee Jeff Nelson, Chris Shearn and me.
Amazin’ But True meets Pinstripe Pod Crossover with Jake, Figgie, Chris Shearn, Jeff Nelson:
- SUBWAY SERIES: Francisco Lindor made a statement on Sunday with his three-homer game. Both teams were fighting for a playoff spot. It made the series that much better. This series has been reignited and anyone who said the series has lost its luster was proven wrong. Nellie was surprised to see Giancarlo Stanton say something when rounding the bases. Figgie talks about his experience when the Nationals dugout was singing in the dugout while he was pitching.
- 9/11 TRIBUTE: Saturday was emotional at Citi Field. Was great to see fans unite like they did and see 43,000 people there. Figgie was reminded of when they came back in 2001 to play in Philly and there were “U-S-A” chants throughout the stadium. Baseball is a game that unites people and brings people joy and Saturday was a beautiful scene in Queens.

Jake & Figgie Segment:
- PLAYOFF PUSH: Does Sunday’s win spark the Mets to go on a run to the playoffs? They showed a lot of heart that this team was missing. The bats need to keep scoring runs and backing up the pitching staff.
- FUNDRAISER PODCAST: Friday’s Katch Astoria 9/11 fundraiser podcast was a grand success. We raised over $12,000 for Tunnels to Towers, going to families and first responders of 9/11. Big thanks to Katch Astoria, Figgie, Mayda and all the people that came out and donated for such a great cause. There are still some fantastic auction items that are available for bidding, including a Pete Alonso autographed baseball, a pitching lesson from Figgie, a day golfing with Figgie and a Jacob deGrom signed Mets helmet.
