BOSTON — Another fan sitting near the visitors’ dugout at Fenway Park was hit in the head by a foul ball on Friday night, this time off the bat of the Yankees’ Didi Gregorius.

The liner hit the woman, who was sitting about 10 rows back on the third-base side. She left the area 10 minutes later under her own power with assistance from stadium personnel and was taken to nearby Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, according to the Red Sox.

“There’s not much I can say,” said Gregorius, who gave the woman a bat after the incident. “Things happen in the game. I don’t try to hit people.”

On June 5, fan Tonya Carpenter was struck in the face with a broken bat while sitting in the same area and was hospitalized for several days.

Joe Girardi called for extra protection for fans.

“It was not a pretty sound,” the manager said. “I worry all the time about people getting hurt. … Just extend [the net].”
