Luke Voit is the latest Yankee to hit the injured list due to the abdominal strain he suffered in Saturday’s win over the Red Sox in London.
Voit left that game after injuring himself while running out a double and didn’t play Sunday, but the Yankees still hoped he wouldn’t need an IL stint. Instead, he was placed on the 10-day IL on Tuesday — retroactive to Sunday — and will miss the Subway Series against the Mets.
Mike Ford was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre to take Voit’s spot on the roster. Chance Adams was also optioned to Triple-A with pitcher Nestor Cortes Jr. called up for Tuesday’s game.
