Things were beginning to go too well for the Mets.
As the Mets rained down more runs against the Rockies on Saturday night, Yoenis Cespedes was forced to exit early, in the sixth inning, after diving awkwardly for a ball in left field.
The oft-injured slugger sprinted to catch a ball hit by Colorado’s Nolan Arenado, with his leg appearing to get caught in the turf, creating a divot. Cespedes did not come up with the catch and stayed on the turf, tumbling over.
Manager Terry Collins and trainer Ray Ramirez went out to check on Cespedes, who stood up and tried to stretch his leg. He slowly walked off the field, without a noticeable limp, on his own power.
