Anthony Rizzo was officially placed on the 10-day IL on Wednesday, retroactive to Saturday, with the first baseman still dealing with headaches that may be due to the epidural he received last week in California to treat his lower back issues.

Aaron Boone said he spoke with Rizzo on Wednesday morning and he said he “felt great when I’m laying here,” but doctors want him to avoid activity until Thursday afternoon, following tests that were done Tuesday to find the cause of the headaches.

“We hope in the next 24-48 hours the headaches subside,’’ Boone said.

If they do and Rizzo is symptom-free, Rizzo can prepare to return to the lineup.

Without Rizzo – as well as the other injured and unavailable Yankees – Ronald Guzman got the start at first base for the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Twins in The Bronx.

Guzman was selected from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and added to the active roster – as well as the 40-man roster – on Wednesday, with right-hander Luke Bard designated for assignment.

In his last 29 games with SWB, the lefty-swinging Guzman hit .370 with 13 doubles, eight homers, 25 RBIs and an OPS of 1.179.

Andrew Benintendi is also on the IL after surgery to repair the hook of his hamate bone went “as expected,’’ Boone said.

They are holding out hope the outfielder is able to return by the postseason, as they are with Matt Carpenter – who had his fractured left foot re-examined on Monday, revealing that it wasn’t fully healed.

That means Carpenter, a centerpiece of the offense after signing with the Yankees earlier this season, won’t be able to begin baseball activities yet.

Boone said Carpenter is scheduled to undergo another X-ray in a “week to 10 days” to see if the fracture is gone.

Asked the best-case scenario for Carpenter, Boone said he still believed he could get back to the team this season.

Giancarlo Stanton and DJ LeMahieu were both held out of Wednesday’s Game 1 lineup and there remains uncertainty surrounding LeMahieu’s right big toe injury.

Boone repeatedly called the situation “complicated.”

LeMahieu is speaking with doctors about the best course of action and whether more time off would help the injury.

Miguel Andujar was named the 29th man for Wednesday’s doubleheader and started Game 1 of the doubleheader in left field.

Josh Donaldson was placed on the paternity list prior to Wednesday’s game and since the Yankees already had Andujar on the roster, they replaced Donaldson with right-hander Deivi Garcia.

Once a top prospect, Garcia pitched terribly in the minors and with the Yankees last season, and was sidelined with a hand injury earlier this season with SWB.

After being moved to the bullpen with SWB after being promoted from Double-A Somerset, Garcia allowed two earned runs in five innings over a pair of outings.

“He’s thrown the ball well the last couple times,’’ Boone said of Garcia’s most recent time with SWB.

Zack Britton was scheduled to make a rehab appearance with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

“We’ll see where we’re at from there,’’ Boone said of the left-hander’s comeback from last year’s UCL surgery.

Boone added Britton would need “at least several” outings at Triple-A before he’s a consideration to join the bullpen in The Bronx.

Luis Severino was expected to make his final rehab appearance with Double-A Somerset on Wednesday before an anticipated return to the rotation.
