In the first matchup between the new Mets Triple-A affiliate, the Buffalo Bisons, and the Yankees Triple-A affiliate, the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees, it was the Yankees that came out on top at Buffalo’s Coca-Cola Field. Kei Igawa gave up three home runs – including a solo shot to the Mets’ top prospect, Fernando Martinez – but SWB managed to escape from the game with a 6-5 victory, as Milt Northrop writes.
Kanekoa Texeira and Mike Dunn combined to hurl 4.1 innings of shutout relief to propel the Double-A Trenton Thunder to a 5-2 win over Harrisburg at Trenton’s Waterfront Park.
Reading’s Michael Stutes threw five shutout innings and Binghamton managed only three singles in a 4-1 loss in Reading yesterday.
Both the Mets and Yankees High-A (St. Lucie and Tampa) and Low-A (Savannah and Charleston) affiliates had yesterday off.
