Week 7 of Awards Wednesday and just wondering what Jason Giambi has not put in his body:
AL MVP
1. Magglio Ordonez, Tigers. 2. Vladimir Guerrero, Angels. 3. Alex Rodriguez, Angels. We cannot ignore the Yankeesâ record any longer. These three are very close on paper, but if the season ends today the Tigers and Angels are playoff teams, and the Yanks are the biggest disappointment in the sport. Who ever thought that playing for the Yankees would hurt your MVP candidacy? But this is the first time this season that A-Rod is not the leader in this race. (Last weekâs leader: Rodriguez).
AL ANTI-MVP
1. Jason Kendall, Aâs. 2. Shea Hillenbrand, Angels. 3. Dioner Navarro, Devil Rays. The Yanks were actually considering Hillenbrand (1 HR, 2 BBs, 135 ABs) as a first base alternative. Who would ever think that Doug Mientkiewicz would actually be a better choice than someone else? (Last weekâs leader: Kendall).
NL MVP
1. Chipper Jones, Braves. 2. J.J. Hardy, Brewers. 3. Jose Reyes, Mets. A bad week (.200 BA, no XBH) costs Reyes a few spots. Jones is second in the NL in OPS, and is thriving despite a bad season so far from Andruw Jones. (Last weekâs leader: Reyes).
NL ANTI-MVP
1. Carlos Delgado, Mets. 2. Jim Edmonds, Cardinals. 3. Adam Everett, Astros. That well-placed, two-run single that beat the Cubs did not get Delgado going. Only the Cardinals have gotten worse production out of the cleanup hole then the Mets have with Delgado. (Last weekâs leader: Edmonds).
AL CY YOUNG
1. Dan Haren, Aâs. 2. John Lackey, Angels. 3. James Shields, Devil Rays. Now we are seeing why the Mets were trying so hard to get Haren. (Last weekâs leader: Haren).
AL ANTI-CY YOUNG
1. Mike Mussina, Yankees. 2. Jae Seo, Devil Rays. 3. Miguel Batista, Mariners. Weâll take a week off from Seattleâs Jeff Weaver, who is on the DL now. Mussina needs to stop talking about his routine and start pitching well if the Yanks are going to make a run. (Last weekâs leader: Weaver).
NL CY YOUNG
1. Jake Peavy, Padres. 2. Ted Lilly, Cubs. 3. Tim Hudson, Braves. You think the Yankees should have signed Lilly (4-2, 2.69 ERA) instead of Kei Igawa? (Last weekâs leader: Peavy).
NL ANTI-CY YOUNG
1. Adam Wainwright, Cardinals. 2. Anthony Reyes, Cardinals. 3. Kip Wells, Cardinals. Any wonder why the Cardinals are eight games under .500? (Last weekâs leader: Wainwright).
AL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
1. Daisuke Matsuzaka, Red Sox. 2. Hideki Okajima, Red Sox. 3. John Danks, White Sox. Danks has put together four straight quality starts. (Last weekâs leader: Matsuzaka).
NL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
1. Josh Hamilton, Reds. 2. Hunter Pence, Astros. 3. Chris Sampson, Astros. Keep an eye on San Franciscoâs Tim Lincecum, who is charging hard. (Last weekâs leader: Hamilton).

1. Red Sox. 2. Mets. 3. Angels. 4. Tigers. 5. Indians/Braves. (Last weekâs leader: Red Sox).

1. Nationals. 2. Cardinals. 3. Reds. 4. Royals. 5. Rangers. (Last weekâs leader: Nationals).
