ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A love story played out before Monday’s Yankees-Rays game at Tropicana Field when a first responder proposed to the woman he helped save.

As Melissa Dohme prepared to toss the first pitch, Cameron Hill ran out to present her with a baseball. On it, he’d inked in red: Will you marry me? She said yes.

The Tampa Bay Times reports Hill responded to a 911 call after Dohme’s former boyfriend stabbed her 32 times in 2012.

Cameron couldn’t get her off his mind, and calls it a “sixth sense” that he knew he’d see her again.

Later that year, they did meet again. And a romance blossomed.

She graduated from college. He saw her through her former boyfriend’s trial.

Dohme calls Hill her “fairy tale.”
