Pete Rose, already banished from the Hall of Fame for gambling on baseball, has given fans another reason to dislike him.

The hit king proclaimed his disdain for injuries — they’re apparently not allowed in the playoffs. During Fox Sports 1’s studio show Thursday, Rose ripped Blue Jays stars Josh Donaldson and Jose Bautista for coming out of Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Rangers. Donaldson took a knee to the head after a collision with Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor, and Bautista later suffered a cramp in his right hamstring.

This was Rose’s version of “Get off my lawn.”

“I just don’t understand. I mean, does everybody know what we’re playing for now?” Rose ranted, according to Yahoo Sports. “I mean, you get a tweak and you got to leave the game. You get a knee on the head, and you’ve got a helmet on and you got to leave the game to go take a test that you pass. I mean, cause you’re a little light-headed?

“I got light-headed how many times in my career? I still went out there and played. I guess it’s just different from when I played to when they’re playing today, Frank [Thomas]. I can’t see you sliding into second there and leaving the game. I really can’t. And this guy is the MVP.”

A gentle reminder, as my brain was dying and in need of immediate medical intervention, I passed a concussion test.

Pete Rose should really speak less or not at all.

Still ignoring Pete Rose, which I think is good policy

Pete Rose brings zero to Fox. He’s the crazy relative nobody wants to sit next to. One plus: He looks a little like Eric the Actor.

Donaldson was back in the lineup for Friday afternoon’s Game 2 and hit a majestic home run in his first at-bat, but only after going through baseball’s concussion protocol. Bautista also was playing, hitting third and playing right field.

Those were the most noteworthy comments Rose made on his first day working Fox Sports 1’s postseason studio show, but his presence, along with former players Frank Thomas and Raul Ibanez, was odd. He often slouched down in his seat, maintaining a combative attitude and offering little insight.
