MIAMI — Bartolo Colon has his own definition of innings limit: Pitch deep into a game and limit the opposition to nothing.

The veteran right-hander is on a roll now, and the Mets couldn’t be more grateful. Colon made it a career-high 25 straight scoreless innings, with a shutout Saturday that led a 7-0 demolition of the Marlins.

“An old person like me, I’ve got no limits,” the 42-year-old Colon said, when he was jokingly asked about his innings cap for the season.

The complete game was the first by a Mets pitcher this season. Colon (13-11) allowed nine hits and did not walk a batter over 100 pitches, saving the bullpen a night after the Mets went 11 innings in a loss to the Marlins.

“It is a personal goal,” Colon said, referring to the complete game. “It picked up the team and it picked up the bullpen.”

The Mets (75-60) remained five games ahead of the Nationals, who beat the Braves 8-2, in the NL East.

Colon had the defensive play of the night, flipping behind his back to throw out Justin Bour, who hit a slow roller along the first-base line with two outs in the sixth.

“I still can’t believe I saw that,” catcher Travis d’Arnaud said. “I can’t believe it happened.”

But before the Mets get too excited about Colon’s recent hot streak as manager Terry Collins ponders a possible playoff rotation it should be noted the right-hander’s best work has come against the feeble NL East: Colon is 12-1 with a 2.51 ERA inside the division.

D’Arnaud’s three-run blast in the first inning got the Mets started and Wilmer Flores homered on Brad Hand’s next pitch to give the Mets a 4-0 lead.

Juan Lagares hit a two-run homer in the second before d’Arnaud delivered an RBI single that put the Mets ahead 7-0. From that point it was easy work for Colon.

Hand lasted just 1²/₃ innings for the Marlins in which he allowed seven earned runs on six hits and two walks.
