Jason Bay’s season debut with the Mets will have to wait until at least Thursday.

The injured left fielder met with team brass in New York on Monday, and it was decided Bay, who is recovering from a strained ribcage muscle, should play two more minor-league rehab games then rejoin the Mets for their Thursday game against the Astros.

With Triple-A Buffalo and Double-A Binghamton expecting inclement weather this week, the Mets sent Bay to Single-A St. Lucie to complete his rehab assignment.

The Mets are anxious to get Bay back into the lineup. They scored five runs in losing two of three games to the Braves over the weekend, but managed to snap a seven-game losing streak with Sunday’s 3-2 victory.
