Carlos Beltran has moved up to third in the outfield balloting for the NL All-Star team, bypassing the Cubs’ Alfonso Soriano in the fan totals released today by Major League Baseball. Beltran now has 1,092,516 votes from the fans, while Soriano nows trails him with 1,078,904 votes. Manny Ramirez, incidentally, is fifth in the outfield voting with 858,353 votes despite his PED suspension.
David Wright, meanwhile, continues to lead the third-base balloting by a wide margin over Washington’s Ryan Zimmerman. Jose Reyes remains a distant fourth in the totals at shortstop.
No other Mets position player is in contention for a spot in the July 14 All-Star Game in St. Louis. Final fan totals will be released July 5.
