Carlos Beltran was diagnosed with mild inflammation in his right knee after undergoing an MRI earlier today. The Mets announced that the center fielder would not play again this season, but that there was no damage to the surgically-repaired knee that sidelined Beltran until July.
Beltran struggled since returning from the January surgery, but had finally begun to return to form before leaving last night’s game after the fifth inning at Citi Field after feeling pain in the knee when he reached first on an error and took a lead in the fourth.
