Talk about devotion.
It was business as usual Monday for star Ben Affleck as he hit the red carpet solo for the world premiere of “The Accountant” in Los Angeles. But as he made his way into the TCL Chinese Theatre, the diehard Boston sports fan stopped in his tracks to catch the end of the Red Sox’s playoff game against Cleveland on a reporter’s cell phone.
“I’m gonna have a heart attack,” Affleck mutters at one point.
The Indians won, 4-3, knocking the Red Sox out of the postseason, and Affleck — who’s been known to make a high-stakes wager in his day — admitted he was “disappointed” by the loss.
He said he would lend his support another famously cursed franchise for the rest of October.
Yes #benaffleck knows the #redsox lost. He is disappointed. Gutted even. But rooting for the Cubs now. True fact. #TheAccountant

This isn’t the first time unfortunate sports results have interrupted Affleck’s press tour.
While chatting with Sports Illustrated earlier this month, a correspondent had the unfortunate task of informing the Patriots devotee about his team’s shutout loss to the division rival Bills. Upon learning the score, Affleck summed up his frustration with a profane outburst: “F–k!”
